Had an absolutely fantastic night on Saturday 12th June at The Hull Arena, watching Blondie tear through a set of old and new classics. The atmosphere was electric, the Arena was full and all the band performed with full on passion and energy, looking like they were having a ball on stage. Debbie Harry was mesmerising throughout, singing brilliantly, play-acting, gesturing, teasing and hamming up to the max. Musically, lots of songs were re-worked and often twisted into strange new shapes. Call Me rocked steady and hard, and Rapture was just funking awesome! Each song more or less banged straight into the next, Clem Burke drumming with a drive that is not human and Chris Stein making it look soooo easy!

They played shed loads of hits and did four encores. Denise and I last saw Blondie in November 2003 at the Manchester Apollo. We were both blown away then and were just as blown away last Saturday. After the gig we were fortunate to catch up with the band just before they left Hull. Denise and Pete had some pics with Debbie, Chris and Clem (see above). Chris was really chatty and when we explained we had a tribute to Blondie he said that was amazing and he totally approved. I think the pictures show what a cool time we had.(Thanks to our good friend Hamish for taking them!)

Love t'all
